Melly3e: Rising Cincinnati star is ready to take over the music scene

Born Melvin Reeves III, the Cincinnati native looks to shake up the music scene both locally and globally with his versatility in vocals and producing beats at a very high energy.

Starting at an early age, Melly3e always had a passion for music. At the age of four, he wanted to make beats, so he beatboxed, and at the age of 11 he wrote his first rap. Since then, Melly3e has morphed into a triple threat, writing, producing, engineering his own tracks and creating his own style. Growing up in Cincinnati, Melly3e wanted to break the mold of what his city thought made a great artist and greatly strayed away from the “typical” artist route.

Creating tracks with a soft melodic tune while having a hard bassline, has become his latest addition to his musical weaponry. When he first started recording music at the age of 14, he was more focused on lyricism and wordplay, looking up to artist such as Wiz Khalifa, Earl Sweatshirt, Mac Miller, Drake, MF Doom, Lil Wayne, TI, Ludacris, Curren$y, and Tyler the Creator. However, as time progressed, he decided that the music he was making was no longer for him but for others, so he switched his style completely by fully embracing his voice, energetic side and going all out on his tracks. Fearing what other people thought hindered him from reaching his full potential and boxed him in. Now, being carefree Melly3e has become more versatile than ever.

Ranging from loud yells to soft singing, to political issues, Melly3e does it all. Learning a few tricks of the trade, Melly3e has made it his mission to become a powerhouse, creating and editing his own music videos, cover art, and promos has propelled Melly3e to create his own dedicated fanbase and gain acknowledgement from notable personalities such as DJ Akademiks and many other radio personalities. His latest works includes his single “Overlords” featuring Klassy, produced by Melly3e which can be found on all platforms including, iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, and etc, and his latest project “Tired of Being Blue” is exclusively on Soundcloud.

Created a Record Label called “THVAULT Records” with friends/rap mates Tez Robertson and Mir Maru. Released a group project called “Strike” under the THVAULT, available on all platforms. Performed all around the Cincinnati area gaining traction and exposure. Worked with multiple artists and producers. Working on a new project called “Caution” which is set to release later 2019/early 2020.

Melly3e’s latest project Tired of Being Blue centers around the midst of emotions that he is facing and has faced on his journey to becoming a renowned artist. Losing his father to gun violence at the age of 10, he has always had a chip on his shoulder, trying to find ways to channel his raw emotion. Recently he lost a good friend of his to gun violence, sparking almost the same sadness and angry he felt when his father passed, leading to the creation of Tired of Being Blue. Melly3e wanted to release a project back in 2018 but didn’t feel that the timing was right.

Considering the tragic event, this made Melly3e realize that time is short and if not for him, he could release the project for others and possibly help and save people who felt the same sadness and anger. Many things have happened during the creation of the project, losing another friend to the justice system, betrayal of other friends, and many other disappointments. Songs on the ep span from early 2018 to early 2019 and just happen to perfectly fit together.

The songs are arranged from oldest to newest giving the listener a creative journey experience to see how Melly3e has progressed in both talent and technical ability throughout the year in which the song “No Time” was conceived to the last song “Sometimes” which was made in July of 2019. The project has been well received by fans and oncoming listeners, especially the song “Check”. Tired of Being Blue is a project that comes from a place of honesty dealing with losses, heartbreaks, heartbreaking, and a wide range of blue emotions. The title says it all.
