Yuxi loves learning about new technologies and trying to apply them to her artworks. She believes that the progress of technology can serve designers to better present their works. During the pandemic, Yuxi created "Dear Home Museum," a constantly updated interior design virtual exhibition. Her goal is to increase people's interest and ability in interior design. Dear Home as a virtual museum platform brings endless Interior design inspirations and ideas; The museum has a unique, fun design learning program that allows people to experience the fun of design in a game. Participants can create a virtual space on the platform, exhibit their original interior design works, and share their stories in different display forms. Yuxi believes design is not out of reach, everyone can do their own home design.

The museum is also an educational platform to show new design inspirations and to express people' s love for home. participants can get design inspiration, elevate design passion and skills, and build personal design styles on the platform. ​

How to communicate design knowledge in the most effective and understandable form was the biggest challenge in this project. Interior design beginners need a more interesting and efficient way to learn and try their first design. So, Yuxi designed a game-like program in this museum. After gaining knowledge of interior design, the users could start trying their first interior design. There are over 20 interior design styles for reference. The users could choose their preferences while browsing the best works of each style. In this process, they can acquire the specific contents of design styles, representative artists, and works. The users only need to follow the instructions and select each factor, and then the tailored design solutions will be created. It’s a very fun learning experience.

The virtual exhibits are combined with the users’ presenting walls, and the famous design works representative of age. These great design works are arranged along a Z path in the virtual museum. People can scan the QR code near the design artwork to review the work stories and make comments on the message board. The images and designs were dynamic and continuously moved around the environment (walls). It is an excellent experience for everyone to share, learn, and communicate.

Who is Yuxi Liu: One of the Leading Designers in Visual Communication Design

Yuxi Liu is a young visual communication designer based in NYC. She graduated from Pratt Institute in M.S. ​in communication design in Brooklyn NY. She has worked in various fields of design ranging from graphic design, digital design, product and packaging design, environmental graphic design, etc. Through a unified approach combining strategy, design, and art direction, Yuxi aims to transform everyday objects into moments of delight. She believes design should be made with functionality, rationality, and aesthetics. Her works have won multiple international visual arts and design awards, including the A’ Design Award, GDUSA, Summit Emerging Media Award, and Indigo Design Award. She exhibits her artworks around the world, including in the U.S., Europe, and China. 

Yuxi is a young professional multidisciplinary designer born in China in 1994. She has been a relatively quiet child since childhood, good at thinking and observation. Her talent for painting began to emerge when she was five years old. She began to learn painting professionally with her Painting Enlightenment teacher. In her childhood, what accompanied her most were pencils and colors. She placed her feelings and words in painting and enjoyed the freedom and happiness that painting brought her.

She left her country and family to begin her undergraduate studies in graphic design at the SVA - School of Visual Arts in New York. A completely unfamiliar environment and culture brought her a different mental experience. She enjoys the fullness of the moment and the days surrounded by art. She loves the diverse culture in New York, and everything around her brings her endless creative inspiration. She continued her master’s studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY. During these 6 years of study and design, she fell madly in love with design and art. She now works as a senior designer in a product design company, leading the design team to complete many quality design works.

Her works focus on visual identity, UI/UX, product and packaging design, and environmental graphic design. She always seeks innovative approaches to convey values and messages through the power of design. Dieter Rams’s 10 good design principles had a great influence on her. Yuxi focuses on functional, simple, sustainable, creative, and aesthetically pleasing of her design work.
