ARCADIA SUN FOR TURNING THE CLOCK BACK TO THE 1990’S MUSIC

Arcadia Sun are a collective five-piece band with members from all over the UK and Poland, based In Liverpool. Their different musical styles and influences have merged into a unique beautiful sound with very meaningful lyrics, harmonies and raw sound. Arcadia Sun signed a deal with Liverpool based record label Evolution Records in December 2018 after playing together for just over six months. The band are scheduled to play some to go on a UK tour followed by a tour of Poland, Germany, Czech Republic and Netherlands following the release of the debut album in fall 2019. The band are also scheduled to play several big festivals in the UK in 2020. This is the second single released from the upcoming debut album following the debut single release of ‘Can You See Me Now’.

Although the debut single release was met with great feedback, the band and record label feel that the second release is the one that’ll grip audiences and pull people back into the 90’s and early 00’s Indie Rock Scene as the song is not only very catchy and full of high energy and euphoria, it also tells a beautiful story of how you can never give up on your dreams even when people doubt you or say you won’t make it, the message is to make those dreams a reality and keep kicking those doors until they crash in. It’s all about rebellion, attitude and breaking through the obstacles that are stopping you achieving the life that you deserve (in this case, at the formative and pivotal time of adolescence) – which is what the song and video gets across beautifully.

This band are inspired and influenced by the likes of The Beatles | Oasis | Johnny Marr | Joy Division | The Smiths and The Stone Roses to name a few Lead Singer Tony Manley’s main musical influences were Oasis with frontman Liam Gallagher who inspired Tony to be in a band. Very much like music icon Jimi Hendrix who instilled a love of feedback and sonic experimentation lead guitarist Adrian Nally has never lost and watched footage of him over again when he first got a guitar!! Everything noisy and challenging, the likes of Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & Mary Chain, Joy Divison, Nirvana influences the guitar playing also but a personal like for hip-hop and electronica whilst creating guitar music has an indirect influence somewhere along the way. The electronica vibe also has a big influence on rhythm guitarist Gareth Cobham as he grew up listening to 80’s music thanks to his mum and dad! Bassist Matt Hensman has an even more diverse influence by learning to play bass guitar by playing along with Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Blur and also Nirvana.

However with the experience of this came the observations of individuals and how they made the instrument their own. People like John Entwistle, Cliff Burton, Jean Baudin, Les Claypool, they put their own stamp on their music and it really shows in the end product according to Matt. And finally drummer Bart Gazdowicz with very different musical influences to the band including Polish rock bands O.N.A., Perfect, Bajm as well as rock legends Queen and he too Nirvana. Overall it’s a very diverse mixture but that is what creates this beautiful power and melodies from this band. Tony is the lead songwriter who along with the band work on them together to bring them to life. Adrian sends also creates lots of music which Tony writes melodies and lyrics to.

This has always been the foundations of creating the tracks however the upcoming single ‘Lifeline’ Tony wrote lyrics and melodies to one of Gareth’s creations. Each member loves working on new music at practice sessions and everybody contributes towards bringing the songs to life so the end product is then a band creation. All involved are looking forward to the future as the material created and even new material pending is very special. The only problems the band do try to overcome are juggling life with committing time to the band as sue to being a new up and coming band, all members have regular jobs and families but the band are all committed to being a success and changing their lives forever. The band really are turning the clock back to the 1990’s even with proper professional studio recording and practice sessions. The great thing about the industry now is that it's so accessible to everyone. Anybody with minimal resources can record a song, get it hosted on steaming platforms and sell it through outlets or even get lucky on social media. Plus talent shows give opportunities to artists but never really bands.. It's never been easier to introduce your music but there’s so many people doing it can be hard to get noticed.
Vinyl records have made a huge comeback and everybody is confident real raw studio music will too. The band have recorded their singles at Parr Street Studios, the same studio where Coldplay recorded their first two albums so the quality of the recordings is first class. The tracks are also mixed and mastered at Crosstown Studios in Liverpool by Jon Lawton. As you can tell by the name he’s a massive Hendrix fan. And the band’s label Evolution Records was formed in 2017 and are also based in Liverpool with their base in- between The Three Graces and the Albert Dock which is at the forefront of the world's most beautiful waterfront.

Both the band and label work brilliantly together and are helping one another to push each other to the next level as both want to have huge success in this industry. And with the quality of music that is being written and produced by Acadia Sun, there’s no reason why this cannot happen in 2019.
