WOUNDEDSPiRiT are taking back control for the 40 somethings

“Let me see your hands” asks Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr, still with the energy and excitement after so many years of touring. Simple Minds are still alive and kicking and so are WOUNDEDSPiRiT, who hail from West Bromwich, UK. The band were born out of the '80s stadium rock era that gave us U2, The Alarm, Big Country, Something Happens and their heroes Simple Minds. “We are yesterday’s generation who have become the new generation,” declares lead singer Jason. WOUNDEDSPiRiT are shouting it from the rooftops. The band, all in their 40s, are carrying the torch for all the lost bands of the '80s and '90s who disbanded and never got their music out to the masses. Dust off your guitars from the attic, amp them up and play them loud, is the message the band are keen to promote. Only two original members now exist in the band, but they are going to show you the opportunities that exist despite all the obstacles of being in an original band. WOUNDEDSPiRiT reformed after a 16 year hiatus, coming back together for a one-off charity gig. It created such a buzz that the newly-energized band recorded a single, with the accompanying video shot at a 28,000 seater soccer stadium, home of then-Premier league team West Bromwich Albion.
WOUNDEDSPiRiT still keep the spirit alive with big choruses, catchy hooks and old school songwriting. The band are receiving critical acclaim in the UK. Leigh Sandars in the Express and Star wrote: “11 Months is a brilliant track.” Kris Engelhart of New York mag Shutter 16 said: “The record is a wonderful ride, full of jangly pop melodies that will brighten even the darkest of days.“ WOUNDEDSPiRiT released their debut album Forever Young in 2018. "When it comes to production values, this band supercharges,”enthused Justyn Brodsky of Artist Reach. The title track was a cover of a favourite by German synth legends Alphaville, whose vocalist Marian Gold personally praised the WOUNDEDSPiRiT version. The album is an unforgettable trip through timeless melodies. Support dates for the album followed with Grammy-nominated Big Country and Grammy winners Kentucky Headhunters, which brought the band to a wider audience. Now with an album behind them WOUNDEDSPiRiT are heading into a new era with a new single to be released 3rd May 2019. Taking Back Control is an '80s alternative retro upbeat journey into all things great with music, already receiving a Reverbnation Artist Spotlight. Taking Back Control will be WOUNDEDSPiRiT's biggest release to date and will set the tone for their forthcoming album. Entitled Diversity, it is due out in 2020 and with UK tours planned for 2019 and Spring 2020, who’s to say WOUNDEDSPiRiT won’t be the voice of the new generation.
