Chris Ellis: To dream the impossible dream

Dreaming the impossible dream is something Chris Ellis knows all too well. Growing up in the Southeast where Tennessee, Kentucky, & Virginia all meet, there seems to be little chance of a dream as big as his ever really taking off. Nonetheless, hidden in those deep, beautiful mountains is a dream that yearns to reach the world over.   Chris Ellis is a singer-songwriter from Harrogate, Tennessee, which is right next to the Cumberland Gap. Ever since the age of three when his Papaw got him his first cassette tape with Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" on it, he's had the music bug inside of him.   His ultimate mission since he took up songwriting and the guitar to follow it at age fourteen has been relatively simple, to help people. "Songwriting is my release, it's how I let everything that gets bottled up inside of me out, and it truly comes from my heart. Whether it be about young love, a heavy heart, or a feel good tune that has you tapping your feet, there is no greater reward than someone walking up to you and saying something you've written has helped or inspired them, and that's why I want to take my songs on a world-wide scale and get them out to as many people as possible" says Ellis, who already has hundreds of original songs in his catalogue and adding at a rapid pace.   His songwriting is one thing, his live performance is a whole other thing. "I like to have as much fun as possible with my audience. There's all kinds of dancing, singing along, and just all around feeling good. When you can take folks away from every day life and whatever issues they may be dealing with at the time, and you see smiles on their faces and people just havin' fun, that's one of God's greatest blessings to me, and I can't think of anything in this world that makes me feel better" he says as he gleams with excitement. Singing in front of his first crowd for his preschool graduation and fronting his first band at only nine years old, there's no doubt when you see him live that the stage has become his home. 
If you were to ask him what kind of music he does, you wouldn't necessarily get an easy answer there either. "I love it all, and I let it all inspire me. My heart will always be in Rock N' Roll but I let Country, Folk, Gospel, Soul, Blues, even Hip-hop all inspire me" says Ellis and he's not kidding. Once you see one of his shows, you're bound to hear it all. Truly a music lover's kind of show.   When it comes to dreaming the impossible dream, Chris Ellis is turning it around and making the impossible possible. "No matter what God's plans are for me or where this road may take me, I thank Him every day that I get to do what I love to do" and at the end of the day, we can all relate to that. After all, isn't doing what you love what it's all about?   Chris Ellis' recordings include one full length acoustic album titled "Looking Out Your Window", as well as the follow up demo, "The Nights, The Dreams, The Memories" available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, & wherever music is sold. He is currently recording singles, as well as scouting major & independent record labels for the release of his upcoming album, "As Rock N' Roll As Me" as well as filling up his 2019 schedule with future bookings for his band, Chris Ellis & The Weekenders.
