Kim is an Emerging Star in the Music City Firmament

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Kim Petrarca is an indie singer-songwriter based out of Nashville. Kim began singing in the school choir as a child, and her love of music, lyrics, and performing inspired her to learn guitar to put her own poetry to music. She picked up guitar at age eighteen, taught herself some chords, and never looked back. She was involved in the local New England music scene for over ten years, performing solo, as an acoustic duo, and with her first original outfit, Grey Sanford.

During these years, she played venues such as The Living Room, Century Lounge, Lupo’s, The Avalon in Boston, and Kenny’s Castaways in New York City. Kim was a featured writer and performer at the Songbirds of New England, and participated in the Unity Concerts for the benefit of the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame’s Musicians Health Awareness Program. She was also the lead vocalist in SLAM!, and played clubs including Scorpion Bar at Foxwoods Resort & Casino, City Side at River Falls, The Pelham, Gillary’s, and Newport Blues Cafe. Kim worked as a full-time musician from 2007-2010 before shifting her focus back to writing. After her first solo release in 2015, she moved to Nashville to pursue her dream, and has most recently released her third album in Music City.

Her first EP, “Leave It Where It Lies,” was successfully crowd-funded with Kickstarter by her amazing fans and family. It was recorded by former SR-71 guitarist, Mark Beauchemin, and mastered by Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Grace Potter, Ray LaMontagne). Her CD release show was held at The Ocean Mist in Rhode Island during the Summer of 2015 before her departure to Music City. Her sophomore record, “Dead Before the War,” was released in October of 2017, and was recorded in Nashville by Daniel Dennis at Prime Cut Studio. The release was celebrated at The Bowery Vault in Nashville, and featured Jordan Miller and Brandon Moore as the opening act. "Weighted Here" is Kim's third studio EP, released in Winter of 2018, also recorded at Prime Cut Studio with Daniel Dennis, and is distributed by Amuse. This record features a rework of former bandmate Greg Roch’s song, “Time,” and a co-write with Brian McKenzie.

Her winter release was held at The Bean Barn in Rhode Island, where she debuted her first original Christmas song, to be recorded later this year. Since her move to Nashville, Kim has been a featured writer at Bobby’s Idle Hour, Performing Writer Showcase, and Newport to Nashville. Several of her songs are in regular rotation on indie podcasts and online radio and on-air in several states across the country. She has played Nashville venues such as The Basement, Belcourt Taps, Douglas Corner Café, The Commodore, Millennium Maxwell House, Dawghouse Saloon, Café Coco, Alley Taps, The Row, Crying Wolf, and many more. She was a player at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch Campfire Series in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Kim was nominated for Songwriter of the Year for the 2018 New England Music Awards, and also landed a sync deal for her song, ”Maybe,” co-written with Brandan James, through Washington Street Publishing. “If This is Goodbye,” co-written with Jordan Miller and recorded at Prime Cut, was released as a country single and held for consideration by Billy Currington. Kim is proud to be a Shubb Capo artist.

She plays regularly in Nashville, and is currently working on her next music video. You can view her schedule under the shows tab on her website or visit her Facebook page for news and updates.
