MadeinTYO and MyNamePhin are made for each other.
The new joint mixtape by MadeinTYO and MyNamePhin is short and sweet. The tape's cover is reminiscent of Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late, but its length is the opposite of last week's Scorpion: I Bet You Get This All The Time is 15 minutes long and has just five songs. However, every second of this tape is packed with intricate, back-to-back bar-trading. The tape is full of standout lyrics from MadeinTYO but also the less known MyNamePhin, like this gem: "Kill the cat curiousity/catnip can't keep her off of me."
Like the lyrics, all the beats on the tape are interesting, easy listening, and suit the two rappers well. Even more than that, though, the two rappers suit each other. You can hear their chemistry on every song, not just in the words, but in the contrasting registers of their voices which keep the album from getting dull. This isn't the first time they've worked together, the duo collaborated earlier this year on the song Funeral. Enjoy the full tape below:
