Florida's Yoshi Thompkins sets fire to the Sunshine State.
The project's vibe tends to fluctuate throughout the nine-track run-time, with moments of animalistic aggression bleeding into trap-inspired lyrical bangers. While names like Kodak Black, XXXTentation and Denzel Curry have emerged as leaders of the new school Floridian movement, Thompkins has kamayamaya-ed his way onto my radar. Throughout Black Jesus, Thompkins proves himself a jack-of-all-trades, and while the previously released title track stands out as a monolithic accomplishment, the project as a whole is fire.
