Flatbush Zombies have returned with styles on display across their brand new EP "Now, More Than Ever."
As expected, there are plenty of styles on display throughout. Songs like the opening track “herb” emphasizes the respective swagger of each member, a slick and vibey ode to sparking up the title. The Meechy Darko-heavy “quicksand” puts his pain on full display, his emotive voice layered as he lets fly emotional raps. The patented New York State of Mind is not forgotten on “Dirty Elevator Music,” an ode to boom-bap percussion possessed by a vaguely sinister arrangement.
Though clocking in at a modest six tracks, there remains more than enough quality (and musically varied) material to satiate Zombie fans, especially those who appreciate their more experimental qualities. As expected, Now, More Than Ever is further proof that the Flatbush crew may be one of hip-hop’s most slept-on entities.
