The Coup taps E-40 and LaKeith Stanfield for the "Sorry To Bother You" soundtrack.
Sorry To Bother You: The Soundtrack isn't merely a 35-minute communist exposé, but most of the players are known dissidents. Killer Mike who appears on "Monsoon," is a rightful defender of the 2nd amendment. In the interest of causing real rebellion, the right to bear arms becomes centrifugal, even as The Coup and Killer Mike sit diametrically opposed on U.S. policy.
Janelle Monáe is herself a known dissident for disobeying gender norms as she sees fit. The rest of the integrated pack, helps illuminate Boots Riley's vision of a surrealist dystopia in Oakland, but truth be told the tech boom and its effect on housing are just as harrowing in real life. Thanks to Riley's extensive black book, Sorry To Bother You: The Soundtrack outperforms its modest expectations.
Go and see that film folks.
